toxicity in mid elo

These days I played lot of team ladder games and mostly played with 1.5k and 1.6k elo players. Some of the games I got destroyed and in some games we managed to win. So I am hanging around 1400 team elo. One thing I have noticed is most of the 1.5k 1.6k elo players that I met are extremely toxic and extremely competitive. Unlike lower elo players. I rarely met a toxic player with 1v1 elo 1.2k 1.4k and games are casual and more fun. Is this common ?
