As someone who has been playing for a while, I think I’m a reasonably competent player.

However, when I play online, it seems like the majority of players have an ELO rating of around 1100.

What do I need to do to reach the 1000+ ELO level?

    It depends.

Would need to see recordings or need more specific questions.

Could be so many different things

My advice is be more aggressive.

I don’t mean to make you feel bad by telling you this, but I started playing ranked this year after years of only playing the AI.

I had no real build order, not a ton of hotkeys, and I still got placed into 1100 and never dipped below that since.

That’s why I can only think that must be too passive if you’re stuck.

What works at low elo is aggression and constant raiding, ALWAYS at multiple places at once.

Get out of the mindset of “build an army and push back the other army” until later in the game.

If you hit castle age first at 780 elo, you should already feel like you’ve won.

Queue 3 knights, setting the waypoints in your opponents base.

Send them as individuals to 3 different resources simultaneously.

Queue 3 more and send them again to 3 different areas.

    No grouping until after this.

The resulting raid all over the place will be too overwhelming for anyone low elo imo.

I know this is one oversimplified example, but aggression truly is key.

Hot keys -> build order -> constant production -> proper scouting

Imho it is most about decision making reaction (panic).

With hotkeys you can react faster or manage your eco military faster which lead to less panic.

    Have a clear strategy/win condition.

work towards that and always build villager + military and use your military and dont stop scouting.

    Have multiple military production.

What are other players doing to beat you?

I made a huge difference by scouting what my opponent was doing to avoid getting a surprise army turn up at my base

Watch your own replays and try to recognize what you did wrong.

I’m 1.1k elo and there’s just so many big mistakes I still make

I’m about 1050 rising from a low of about where you are over the past twelve months.

I found that my old “strategy” was the same as what I did in the campaigns, which boom to ideal comp for big 200 pop push.

I improved my elo mostly by concentrating on aggression in feudal and early castle, either scouts or men at arms and just keep pushing.

Seige is also really good in castle age until your enemy gets a castle age (knight and manegols/scorpions).

It will lead to more idle tc and messy eco, but it’s a war game so take more frequent fights.

It helps you identify what a good fight looks like, and you will start snowballing wins.

Fix your dark age, once you get to minimal idle time and decent up times you will reach at least 1200.

The boring answer but the simplest and best one.

    Hi.

Im around 1100 i think beside the obvious (buildorder and idle tc) we should always try to max out.

If they pressure you go to the sides.

If you never stop making vills and army till pop limit you can comeback in a lot of games if you have a eye on your pop and don’t forget to build enough production buildings.

Some things I see go wrong in around in my ~1000 games:

-Forgetting to keep tc/eco working when pushing, falling behind even when killing 10+ vills.

-Ignoring military until enemy marches in with big army, followed by constant outnumbered losing battles. (10 skirms can beat 10 archers. 5 x 2 skirms not so much).

-Housed Early Game / Housed when switching to multiple production buildings,

    -Huge amounts of unspent resources.

Have you watched your latest games using capture age?

How idle time did you had in dark age and feudel age?

Probably a lot more then 0.

    Try to improve that.

Also which strategy did you execute?

What is the build order that you had executed?

    Is it really the best?

Or did you made some mistakes?

People at this range probably just pick a strategy without really knowing if that is a good strategy, given all variables.

They also stock with only the go to strategy and dont try something else.

Just an example: franks dont need to go scouts, but people at this range will almost always go scouts at this level.

Give us your user name and we can look up some recs and give more specific tips.

I went from 800 ELO to 1090 in a week.

my personal advice: 1.get Hera’s builds list somewhere on the net. 2.

Practice Franks scout rush into knights and Scout rush into skirms and knights, against the A.I.

    extreme. 3.

    Play ranked, unleash chaos. 4.

As you get comfortable with the scout rush build order, you can move to trying other cavalry civs.
