Losing Too Much ELO

I have a ranking system account and I am unsure why I am losing a significant amount of points.
For example, when I win a game I gain 18 points, but if I lose I lose 40 points.
Can someone explain why this is happening?
Hera Problems
Elo is pretty sensitive.
If you are 1000 and win against a 975, you won’t gain nearly as much as against a 1025.
Just a few points difference can really make a change in gains and losses.
the max elo u can lose is 32, unless you are still in the calibration.

If assume you are playing your first team games with lower elo players right?
Well that is how elo is suposed to work.
I’d relax about it but I lost around 70 elo in the last couple of weeks.
Could be getting worse or maybe the January player pool is better than the Christmas holiday player pool.
