If you know of a game from recent years, such as one made by Viper, Hera, Larry, Yo, or AM/GL, the best way to get a friend to try it might be to suggest it.

    Campaigns!!

    You can even try co-op.

Once they get a hang of the game, you can jump into PvP.

AoE has really immersive campaigns, especially the AoK and AoC campaigns.

I’m not sure jumping right into PvP a good idea.

Play campaigns, introduce game mechanics to them a few at a time, like how to lure a boar, why eco upgrades are important, basic military controls and counter units etc.

Game 1 of Spain v Canada in the T90 2v2 World CUp was great.

If he doesn’t know any players it might be easier for him to relate to countries?

The game also has Hera and Tatoh who you can introduce him to.

And while I know 2v2 isn’t the most popular format it might be something to consider playing with someone that’s very new.

    Hope you guys have fun!

Once they understand the game a little, there’s this all-time classic.

Hera vs MBL, the one with *that play.*
