Hi,
I’ve been playing this game for a while without any issues, but today my mods have been mysteriously deleting themselves.

I’ve tried finding them and re-subscribing, but when I restart the game, they’re gone again.

I’ve checked the Steam files and everything looks normal.

I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but that didn’t change anything.

I’m not sure what else to do, since playing online without mods isn’t really an option if I want to be competitive.

We’re investigating this issue, in the meantime I recommend you to do a temporary fix.

Before you launch the game, please make a copy of mod-status.json file, this can be found here:

C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\YOUR_STEAM_ID\mods\mod-status.json

You should also copy your mods to /local.

Mods default folder is: C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\YOUR_STEAM_ID\mods\subscribed

Copy the folders found there in:

C:\Users\YOUR_WINDOWS_USERNAME\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE\YOUR_STEAM_ID\mods\local

I believe this is an ongoing issue judging from previous posts.

May have something to do with the recent update.

Yeah, I will stop playing for a while.

The res panel mod isnt working.

Cant play without it.

I am too used to it and it feels awkward, can’t focus.

I want to replicate the problem in my machine to foresee a solution.

Edit:
I am willing to release a quick tool to install mods offline so you don’t have to worry about them anymore.

The downside of installing offline is sometimes UI mods may break after the devs release an update so you have to install offline again to fix.
