I haven’t tried playing Age of Empires II: HD Edition, but I’ve heard a lot of people say that the pathing for cavalry units, particularly their ability to catch up to and attack archers that are running away, is improved compared to the original game.

However, these claims are often disputed, so I’m interested to see what the general opinion is.

To that end, I’ve created a poll to get a better idea of everyone’s thoughts.

    Pathing was awful in HD.

The original game is what you really need to compare to.

I guess I can’t remember how it was in HD but some path finding issues still bug me, especially those weird single L angles my vils choose to make when luring boar or when escaping from enemy scouts.

Also noticeable during early feudal aggression, m@a can be dumb as hell.

At least we don’t have the infamous villager staring contests anymore, that alone is a huge improvement.

I have no real qualm with either, HD I don’t remember properly and DE seems fine overall.

One thing that makes me almost ragequit tho is how units, regardless of stance (have yet to figure why it’s not consistent too), decide to make way for other units that have to travers their space, but do so by dispersing far and wide, even towards danger.

It’s infuriating 100% of the times it happens (which I recall was 0 times pre-DE)

For all i know knights had a smaller collision box and could basicly run trough the archers and attack them.

Now they need to run around the archers so they bump into the archers and also into themself making the whole process of surtounding archers alot slower.

Maybe someone who actually played HD can confirm this?
