Because this is a game.
More specifically, in real life horse archers were terrifying and dominated most battlefields in open terrain for this very reason.
The reason why we’re not all speaking Mongolic right now is because in real life there were the possibilities of it failing.
Arrows missed, armor was too thick, the terrain wasn’t open enough or the ground too wet for horses.
In this game, where thumb ring gives archers 100% accuracy, and every attack does at minimum 1 damage, and the only terrain factors at play are hills and trees, all of that comes together to make it overpowered.
You’d either have to nerf the unit into the ground such that it’s just not fun to play with, or it would be the most OP thing ever.
Mangudai are able to fire while moving in AOE4, but the problem there is that the game as a whole isn’t very fun to play because of all the jank.
I do agree that it would be really cool to have though.
I wish I was smart enough to figure out a way to make it work.
You might be on to something, like they have -50% accuracy while moving, but then they kinda turn into Arambai with the missed shot mechanic.
Yes.
Let’s not care about game balance and let’s make everything realistic.
Next changes:
– Hand Cannoneer can oneshot Paladin and any other unit just like in real life.
– Archers can’t destroy farms with arrows, that’s just silly
– Vills attack opponent with bows (I know they have bows, that’s how they kill boars)
– Wolfs attack nearby sheeps (duh)
– And how the fuck can a monk convert unit at distance?
Wouldn’t he need to talk to a soldier to make him switch sides?

The list goes on.
Btw how can we sustain 200 population on arabia without water?
Magic.
