“Why do Cavalry Archers hold back from firing?
It goes against their purpose and needs a change in training or accuracy penalties.”
Feel free to go play Stronghold Crusader.
IRL spears dominate the battlefield
They are trash units IRL and all you need is a vil and a pointy stick. “Here, see that swordsman?
poke him with the pointy side”
People should get consistent wins spamming halbs
I’m imagining shift clicking in an infinite circle around a guys TC ….
Sounds fun
Nope, Reddit AoE II community hates cavalry archers.
Just remove them from the game alltogether.
Don’t even think the engine can handle this kind of behaviour.
No.
I played vs mongols in aoe4 and its a nightmare i hated it so much.
In addition to what everyone else said, some people, especially camel riders, would dismount to shoot.
Heard that one dev talking about it
There are two main reasons why this will not happen.1) the game as polished as this was created in 2000 directly based on a previous game in which the game engine was not able to move units and shoot at the same time that’s why not even cheat units could do it
2) The game from the beginning was created and balanced with that logic in mind.
the moment you change it, the game is no longer the same.
using the same logic a paladin or an elephant should be able to knock back the units they charge.
These are things that in a game with 3d engines, physics and new variable capabilities can be fun, but in a game that is more than 20 years old it would destroy the very essence of the game.
We invite you to Stronghold Crusader
>It defeats the sole purpose of a Cavalry Archer.
CAs are the fastest unit after Scouts and Camels, who have low HP and low Pierce Armor respectively.
They are good enough at hit and run, they need to be counterable.
Massed cavalry archers are a scary sight.
The purpose of a cavalry archer is having range and mobility.
They already fulfill that purpose perfectly fine.
You don’t like a fight?
Usually you can just run away.
Cavalry archers already suffer from a significant accuracy penalty.
There is no need to penalize that more.
I think they’re perfectly fine where they’re at now.
Don’t fix what isn’t broken.
Champions should be able to throw their sounds
Melee units should be incapacitated to attack a villager after the villager hits a hammer on the floor once.
Isn’t to do with logic.
Has to do with game balance
Some people didn’t endure the 10 year Hun meta and it shows
Someone clearly doesn’t know how broken the old Mangudai unit was….
