A. The minimum system requirements for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition includes a Windows 10 , a 1.8 GHz dual-core processor, 6 GB RAM, SSD Storage Drive, and a DirectX 11.0 compatible graphics card.
It does not mean you can play the game on a dual core computer. You will have to lower your resolution to 800×600 and graphics quality to lowest and even then your dual core computer will freeze in the mid game.
The ideal minimum requirements as far as I have personally tested is as follow:
- i5 4th generation processor
- 8 GB Ram
- SSD Storage Drive
Any computer with those specifications or slightly higher will allow you to play single and multiplayer without freezes or crashes.
When first the AoE2 DE came out I faced lots of freezing and crashing issues even on my i7 3rd generation laptop, however after i switched my HDD disk to SSD drive the game performance changed 180 degree (click the link to see more details).
