Find Your Hotkeys & Save Games of Age of Empires 2 DE

In Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition, hotkeys are stored in your user profile folder “%userprofile%”. No worries! I will cover where exactly to locate everything step by step.

Step 1, let’s locate where Age of Empires 2 DE store your settings?

1. Press the Windows button on your keyboard to open the Start menu.
2. Type in “%userprofile%\Games\Age of Empires 2 DE” (without quotes) and press Enter.
3. A folder window will open. Look for a folder with a long string of random numbers (e.g., \76561198079200175).

Keep that folder open and below I will show you where to find save games and hotkeys in this particular order:

Where to find my saved games?

Inside the folder with the random numbers (e.g., \76561198079200175) from Step 1 above..

Double click “\savegame\” folder to access all your save games “replays”

Where to find hotkeys profile?

Again..Within the folder containing the randomly generated numbers (e.g., \76561198079200175) mentioned in the previous Step 1…

To find your hotkey file(s), double-click on the “\profile\” folder. The hotkey file(s) are in the format *.hki.

It is highly recommended that you copy all the contents within the “\profile\” folder to ensure that your in-game settings are preserved as well.
