“Why Does the Elite Woad Raider Cost So Much?”

The Celtic civilization does not have a direct economic upgrade to assist with their affordability, which is different from civilizations like the Poles who have access to two upgrades and an Elite upgrade that costs 400 resources less.

This is also true for units like the Samurai, Berserk, and Urumi.

    Upgrade costs:

    Woad: 1000 food 800 gold

    Samurai: 750 food 650 gold

    Urumi: 900 food 450 gold

    Berseker: 1075 food 475 gold

Celts have one of the best eco bonuses in the entire game lmao.

I agree that elite woad could be cheaper but let’s not pretend they’ve got nothing to help them out

Because the Devs are very slow to change anything that would provide diversity.

I always thought that the gold cost of the upgrade was too high, because Celts need that gold to upgrade Siege, given that they lack some Imperial Age options.

But then I think about their speed, thair raiding capability and that they can surprisingly shred Arbalesters more easily than most Infantry units and I feel that their upgrade cost seems justified

Because they lack a trash counter, meaning they could theoretically be used to punish a lack of gold and force a hard tech switch.
