Which Civilization Should Receive the Indian Division Treatment?

Slavs don’t need to be “treated”, they just need to be renamed to Rus, that’s all.
Italians, teutons, and slavs are already split.
Burgundians is already a split.
Chinese are the best option
It’s quite tough, because a lot of new cigs are kind of offshoots or subsets of the older civs.
The Slavs have practically already been split with the addition of the Poles, Bohemians and (kinda) the Bulgars.
Maybe they should be called the Rus tho
The Teutons, likewise, if they’re representing the holy Roman empire the Burgundians and Bohemians could be sort of considered an offshoot, as they were part of it at various time.
There could be scope for a Swiss or Dutch civ though maybe.
The name Teutons only makes sense when you look at it from an original AOK vantagepoint, where it was sold with the tagline “Rome has fallen, and the world is up for grabs”.
The Burgundians are already close to the edge of what could be considered a distinct civ.
Like yeah they existed as a political entity, but that hasn’t really been how they defined civs up to recently, and they’re not massively distinct from french.
I don’t think they need changing
I’d be open to hearing about a Chinese or sarecen split though, because these cultures were so broad and went through so many changes over the timeline of AOE2
Wouldn’t like to see any more civ splits.
Would like to see more civs added for the great medieval empires left unrepresented (eg: Jurchen, Khitans, Tanguts…
Songhai, Ghanaians, Kanembu…)
I would not purchase a DLC that split Italians or Spanish because it’d just be insulting when vast areas of the world and their many empires are left untouched.
Chinese are obvious candidate and no brainer.
They would be essentially split same way as Indians by leaving Chinese and adding Tanguts, Jurchens and Khitan.
Good thing these civs are even more distinct than Indian ones.
Devs could also give them regional unit (fire lancers?).
Not trying to be political, but I think Chinese being divided would anger China, so no corporation is going to touch that hot potato.
I’d say Malians, but they’re perfectly-designed as far as gameplay goes.
More of West Africa would make me happy though.
Slavs are defacto split into Bulgarians, Bohemians, Poles and Rus (Slavs).
I humbly request that we understand the size and scale of something like “Indians” and the differences in culture, military, architecture etc between Indian civs.
The likelihood that an average person from Bengal meets someone from a Tamil area is miniscule.
They most certainly won’t understand each other.
If we’re dividing based on city states, Gurjaras could be 4 civs – it’s simply not needed.
Before DE launched, I wanted a slavs split but now I think Slavs should just be renamed.
It is the Chinese (don’t mind Arab civs split either tbf) that I’d say is the best candidate for such a rework, which in any case won’t be “split” like it was for the Indians.
I don’t want any of them to be split.
Especially the AoK and Conquerors civs, please leave them alone devs.
Saracens are almost perfect.
They represent a culture based more on religion than language group or political entities.
Purely as a video game faction they are flavorful.
They are top tier based on design and place in the game next to other civs.
In a slimmed down version of the game with say 8 civs they would be one of them. (Huns, Byzantines, Chinese, Mongols, Aztecs, Hindustani, Celts) would be my other choices.
Japanese would be the next one in.
Franks if they didn’t get free Heavy plow.
I have gone a long way from the point.
I’d add civs that held China without touching the Chinese civ.
I’d add Vlachs as a “split” of Slavs.
If then you want to rename them to Rus, fine
Why are Burgundians even an option?
They are already a split civ off Franks, they should definitely not be split further, if that was even possible.
