What Should Be My Priority During a Pike and Siege Push?

Greetings everyone!
I’m making a list of strategies that can be applied when pushing with Pike/Halb + Siege.
What do you think should be the top priorities and what do they rely on?
How many upgrades are necessary to start pushing?
Experienced players, I’d greatly appreciate your insights.
The list is as follows:
\- Amassing Pikes/Halbs (what’s the best number for efficiency? – depends on the number of Barracks)
\- Upgrading Pikes to Halbs
\- Improving Infantry Armor
\- Increasing Infantry Attack
\- Garland Wars, Druzhina,…
\- Massing Mangonels/Onagers (only against enemy Mango/Onagers, Scorps or ranged units?)
\- Upgrading Mangonels to Onagers
\- Amassing building destroyers (Trebs, Rams, BBC usually a bit later)
\- Upgrading Rams
\- Siege Engineers, Shinkichon, Furor Celtica,…
\- Adding support units (Infantry against stronger Halbs or weaker Infantry units, HC or Scorps against Infantry, Cavalry to snipe Siege/Skirms…)
\- Eco care: Farms/Woodlines, protection from raids, late game eco techs (Crop rotation, 2 Man Saw, Guilds – if available)
I’d be grateful for any advice!

If we assume we’re playing 1v1 on a closed map, or we switch into halb/siege later when playing on an open map:
1.
Lots of pikes are better than few halbs.
In general, the number of Halbs depends on how much melee units your opponent is throwing at you.
Against Arb/BBC you don’t need all that many, against Magyar Huszar a lot.
2.
Halb upgrade gives +5 HP +2 Atk and +10 against cav.
Therefore it’s essential against cavalry and not really important against archers.
Against infantry it’s mediocre.
3.
Infantry armor is essential when facing ranged units.
In other situations it’s something you can reasonably give it a low priority
4.
Infantry attack is close to irrelevant.
Only exception is if your opponent is going halb/siege as well, but even then it’s not that important.
5.
Druzhina only when facing lots of melee, more important when it’s infantry.
Garland wars after you got all atk upgrades.
6.
Onagers are good in small numbers, mass isn’t crucial.
Mass leads to overkill and easy snipes by BBC.
Better to have smaller number you can reasonably micro and have enough workshops for quick production once they die.
7.
Upgrading mangonels is absolutely essential.
Siege onager is questionable in 1v1
8.
Rams like to be massed.
Trebs you either trickle in in early imp in “castle standoff”, or you make at least 3-4, whenever you need to kill a castle but your trebs are not going to be protected by your own castle.
BBC is whatever, don’t wait for mass, but having more is better
9.
Siege Engineers is super good.
Shinkichon and Torsion engines as well.
Furor Celtica and Ironclad a bit less but still good.
10.
Depends too much on your opponents composition.
Against Arb/BBC you’re probably going to need it.
11.
Two men saw yes.
Crop rotation usually no.
Protections from raids is always important, losing your eco is how you lose games.
Have enough barracks at home to quickly spam halbs into raiding parties.

If you’re trying to do an early imp push I would favorize rams and their upgrades to be able to destroy the enemies production buildings.
Second step is protection for the rams (most times pikes/halbs) and then adapt to what the opponent is doing or could do according to his civ.
February 3, 2023 at 2:34 pm #8634TsrLightGuestOn castle push you need pikes with attack, mangonels and monk with redemption and it need to be right at start of castle age because this is a very slow push.
For that you need 11 farm, a few on wood and a lot on gold.
Siege and monastery forward and one at home where you first do the techs then defensive monks.
If you don’t want to all in, go full eco while you mass rams and spam halbs in Imp, there is not really a priority here, you do need to full upgrade the ram and halb before going
