What Other Civilizations Have Similar Bonuses to the Aztec Monk’s Health Increase?

    When researching a certain technology, Aztec Monks gain an extra 5 HP which would not normally be awarded.

    This makes them particularly resilient.

    Other civilizations also provide bonuses to certain unit types, such as Franks who give a 20% HP bonus to cavalry from the Feudal Age, and Vikings and Vietnamese who give HP bonuses to infantry and archers respectively.

    However, these bonuses are not linked to any upgrades.

    It would be interesting if a civilization gave their infantry bonus HP when researching Scale Mail Armor, Chain Mail Armor, and Plate Mail Armor, but this may not be feasible due to the already existing bonuses from other civilizations.

    That would be hard to balance and the effect would be hard not to overlap with existing bonuses. +5HP is a big boost on anything that’s not an Elephant.

    And let’s face it, you need to invest a good deal of gold in order to get to 80HP Monks (Max 95HP, but Faith Heresy and Herbal Medicine are not go to techs), that aren’t the tankiest units in aoe2

    I’d like to see this for buildings to help all the LELs, +50hp (or some appropriately balanced number) for every university tech researched!

    What about, every monastery tech gives +x% conversion resistance?

    For some elephant civ?

    Burmeses??

    If you can hold enough, you have elephants really dificult to convert.

    And if they do, you have the monk techs to get them back

    Yes, we already have civs with hp bonuses.They get specific amount of hp for sake of balance.If units get any more they would be op or if your bonus grants the same amount whats the point then?

    Can see this working though they can only get away with it for monks as monks are a little limitied due to micro and you have to buy techs you weren’t going to get otherwise.

    I could see like +2 hp for every infantry tech, archer tech or whatever.

    But it is hard to balance.

    Play using 9x tech mod.

    Could work for a naval civ.

    Not many dock techs and there isn’t yet a civ with high HP ships.

    I know Portuguese and Turks have HP bonus but it’s only 10% and 20%.

    One way to balance this is for example having no Dry Dock.

    Because it’s really powerful.

    It only works on monks because they’re such a specific unit.
