What Are Your Thoughts on the Crenellations Unique Tech Cost of 600F 400S?

    The range of the castle of the Teutonic faction is increased by 3, and the garrisoned infantry can shoot arrows from the extended range.

    Additionally, the Teutons do not possess bracers, making their Imperial Castles have the same range of 13 as a Southeast British Castle.

    It means Teuton Castles can fire at Siege Engineer BBC, the stone cost is more than justified considering the increase in area of control Crenellations gives you.

    The tech is pretty insane.

    Forces you to bring trebs to deal with them and their area coverage becomes enormous.

    But it’s situational, for sure.

    If any tech deserves to have a stone cost, this one does.

    It’s so strong in terms of removing counters.

    Still good tech, if you remove stone cost you must make it like 1000 food 800 gold imo.

    This tech makes only Turkish Bombard cannons (12+2 range) and any Trebuchets (16+1,+2 for Tatars range) outrange the castle (8+5 range).

    Rams are not an option since Teutons have great melee units.

    The effect of +1 range when you have say 4 range is much less effective than the effect of +1 range when you already have 8 range.

    It’s because a ring of 1 range is comprised of 8 tiles whereas a ring of 13 range is comprised of *somebody do the math here* many more tiles.

    Not to mention the vision.

    One thing I know for sure:
    The “garrisoned infantry fires arrows” element should be a passive civ bonus they get for free upon reaching Castle Age.

    Similarly to Murder Holes and Herbal Medicine.

    It should be more expensive.

    As a non cav civ, I pretty much insta resign if a Teuton opponent gets to crenellations.

    They can just castle drop the whole map

    It should not cost stone, imo.

    Stone is just too valueable.

    The castles are very strong but yeah, make it 800f 600g but stone cost for any UT just feels wrong.

    It might only be 3 range, but it increases the area controlled by the castle by 69% (nice, not even making that up).
