In my opinion, both the Magyars and Byzantines have very versatile tech trees in the game.

Personally, I prefer the Magyars because they excel at fast feudal builds due to their lower-cost scouts and free attack upgrades.

Additionally, their bonus against wolves makes them even more effective in the early game.

In the late game, the combination of Recurve Bow Cav Archers and Magyar Hussars make for a formidable army that can take on most other civilizations.

However, civilizations that specialize in Spearman and Scorpions, such as the Berbers, Britons, and Koreans, pose a significant challenge to this strategy.

To counter these counters, it may be necessary to mix in some Cavaliers or focus more on using Magyar Hussars, which also have a bonus against siege.

Overall, the Magyars are a strong civilization, but they do have some weaknesses that need to be accounted for.

In the long run Italians is their matchup.

At least in a forced fight there is absolutely no answer to genoese hussar bbc.

they struggle against halb siege combos due to lack of bbc, their own siege is pretty bad (IMO worst in the game), poor infantry and no redemption so anything with good halb siege

Magyars usually struggle against good eco civ’s .

Worst match ups:

Indians: imp camel with skirms(/HC) counter all.

Poles: poles knights can finish Magyar before imp

Aztecs: Monk with eagles..

Berbers: Camel archers

Turks: Janis with bbc

Any civ with good eco bonus.

Magyars have no eco bonus, so start falling off in Castle age.

So on Arabia Mayans, Chinese, Hindustanis, Franks, will all dominate.

In closed maps late game, Bengalis, Celts, Teutons, Mongols.

Theoretically speaking they don’t do well against halb/siege I do believe they can manage once they roll into their Hussar/CA comp

However chances are the opponent gets to their comp much quicker, as halb siege is much cheaper to get into, and most civs that use this start have good eco bonuses (Celts, Slavs, Teutons to name a few)

This is one of the reasons why Magyars have a poor winrate on arena (also because they can’t utilize their aggressive bonuses on said map)

Does a good camel civ counter magyars?

For example hindustanis and their imperial camels.
