Should Matches Be Timed?

I recently participated in a ranked game that lasted for more than two hours.

Surprisingly, neither team had more than a few military units, and there were no farms or TCs in play.

Instead, a few hussars and archers aimlessly chased each other around the map, which quickly became boring.

From my perspective, it would have been better if the game had ended after 90 minutes and awarded the victory to the player with the highest score.

Otherwise, it’s possible for a player with poor sportsmanship to waste your time by keeping one hussar alive and running.

As a new player with an ELO rating of under 900, I’m aware that my opinion may be naive.

However, I’m curious if there’s been any discussion in the community about this issue, and if there’s a consensus on how to handle it.

Consider the tools in your toolbox to control the situation and end an already won game:

Stone wall large sections of the map to corner them, or at least reduce movement.

    Spies.

Total tech switch to Light Cav / Hussars and Seige for the line of sight and speed, then seige to remove all the buildings.

Outposts / Towers all over the map for more vision and area denial.

If you follow even some of those ideas you’ll be able to win an already won game very quickly.

Yes, it shouldn’t go beyond 95 hours.

Bruh, just resign if you’re bored.

Nobody forcing you to stay in the game.

I see you haven’t heard of the 96-hour game

It’s not difficult to kill the remaining opponent units if you’re actually winning the game.

Shouldn’t be taking more than a few minutes once you get spies, which should be easy since it sounds like all the villagers were dead

Not a set time, but I think a system like the 10-run rule in baseball would be helpful at ending games where one player has clearly lost but is prolonging the game just to be annoying.

Like if you’re score is more than tripple your opponent’s in imp, a countdown should start.

And if after 15 min the lower score is still trippled, they lose.

That’s going to be a big issue for games that are always going to go long, such as games on Michi.

Honestly, if you let it get to that stage, it’s on you.

One team should be able to conclusively win without that, if you end up in this kind of situation, everyone has screwed up probably.

Accelerated wonder victory should be possible in ranked if you have over 150 pop and enemy has less than 20.

Part of the fun of the game is that matches can last 15 minutes or 95 hours 🙂

But if you want faster matches try Empire Wars or the other suggestions in the thread on how to kill opponents that refuse to resign

If you are tired then just resign, your time and mental peace is more important than some imaginary points in a video game.

A guy today got salty of my non stop maa push.

Set scout on auto and went afk.

Had me waste 10 more minutes for imp and spies, and some more to chase the scout – I was Celts, so I had infantry.

He could just called it but no, he NEEEDED to be salty about it.

    P.s.

Hideout is NOT a closed map.

Especially when you play against a Hoang impostor
