Rush to the Tower or Donjon

I started playing AOE2 DE a few months ago and today I bought the Sicilians DLC to try out an early feudal Donjon rush strategy.However, in my first game, my opponent was constantly complaining in the chat about this strategy being cancerous and toxic.
I’m wondering if this aggressive early tower/Donjon rush is considered bad manners or was my opponent just being toxic?
