BongosBongosCongosGuestPausing isn’t a right. It’s a courtesy from the opponent to accept a pause. You’re technically wasting everyone’s time when you pause, so be prepared when people don’t accept it.

after_dark_nightcallGuestIt happened to me when I needed just a minute to open the door, maybe less than a minute. I’ve said “sec pls” and paused and my opponent immediately unpaused. I paused again and he unpaused again. This kept happening like 5-6 times in 10 seconds and I went to the door and ran back while the game was unpaused. I’ve managed to beat him and did some BM by calling him “disrespectful” and “noob” but I felt justified.

El_Spanko94GuestWhy are you pausing so often? I think I’ve genuinely had 4 or 5 pauses in 150+ games

Somejakob89GuestSame here. I think games where you play for around 30min to 1h a match… People should be so friendly to wait for 1 or 2 minutes… I can’t really understand why people are unfriendly and unpause. That’s pretty toxic and unempathic.
Can’t really say whether something changed lately. If you want to see good conduct of a player watch the viper for reference. No flaming, no unpausing, no hectic and unfriendly behaviour. Just playing and be nice.
IMHO. If you can’t wait for 1 or 2 minutes, need to be toxic or thinking of being a d***, don’t play online aoe2 please.

Archon_SilverGuestI’ll respect the pause if the pause is respected, say something before pausing and then before unpausing – you won’t get a second chance, pause and say nothing after I ask and I’ll unpause much much sooner rather than wait, unpause without saying anything, next time you pause I’ll just unpause cause if you’re gonna disrespect me, I’ve got no respect to give to you. It’s a simple common curtesy.

debrijjaYTGuestAt the very least there should be like a 3 second countdown on screen when an unpause happens. I hate the instant return to play. Would be good at the start too.

2HandJackGuestKinda depends, do you pause and leave or do you explain before pausing

BrookieGgGuestIf you have to pause five times in a week you’re probably playing at times you shouldn’t be.

FortressOnAHillGuestKind of wild that you pause that often

TheRealBokononistGuestJust take the L honestly it’s a game. I’m courteous for folks but I don’t want a guaranteed length to the timer b/c that could be really annoying really quick.

UnfairSaenesGuestI give a 5 min tolerance, i say, it should be enough, to pee, to shit, to open the door, should be an unwritten rule. After that, autoresign the person away, clearly doesn’t have the time to be playing. No one should be able to make anyone wait, unless its asked, thus the 5 minutes.
But kids be kids and just unpause, nothing new.

Itzfitz84GuestLots of opinions here. And some people just totally missing the point. No, you don’t have to allow your opponent to pause. Just like you don’t have to hold doors open for other people or let others get into your lane of traffic. You don’t have to be courteous to others.
But not being courteous and at least allowing someone a minute to handle something does actually make you a prick.
Grow up.
