Identify the top three civilizations with strong economy regardless of the game mode or map.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21449oslice89GuestIn Age of Empires 2, Koreans have the highest quality universities in the game and have some of the best economists as a result of the education they can attain at such institutions and the research they can conduct.
Though Chinese and Japanese universities don’t offer quite as much, Chinese and Japanese economists are geographically close enough to easily travel to Korea’s universities or exchange information with Korean economists.
Chinese economists are additionally known for their efficiency in conducting research with very limited budgets.
Chinese and Japanese economists would likely be the 2nd and 3rd best respectively.
Unfortunately, economists are not a meta unit currently, so I’m not sure that picking your civ based on this information will help you win more games.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21450chefilliniGuestPersonally, I love the Vietnamese with the wood saving eco upgrades and late game gold by chopping wood.
Vikings with free and instant wheelbarrow and Hand Cart
Burgundians with early upgrades and late game gold farming
This is my hot take.
It’s not well thought out.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21451TheConqueror753GuestBurgundians, Poles, Khmer.
I know I should say Vikings, but I love Khmer too much.
I value farming anywhere and constantly dropping off food more than I do free wheelbarrow.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21452henryaocGuestVikings, Burgundians, Poles
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21453teslavengerGuestAztecs are nice if you can monk rush a couple of relics.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21454Schierke7GuestFor vanilla AoE 2 Mongols, Vikings, Japanese for me.
Mongols for the hunt bonus.
I love how it can give you a fast strong flush or Castle Age.
Japanese for cheap lc, mc, mill.
Edit: read all comments.
Would probably put teutons before jap, 100 % if we value late game ofc.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21455MtG-CrashGuestBurgundians, Poles and Khmer.
And I think my hottake is Saracens.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21456Comprehensive-Sort92GuestVikings because I forget wheelbarrow and handcart with every other civ lmao
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21457Azot-SpikeGuestVikings, Burgundians and a tie between Slavs and Teutons
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21458da_m_n_aoeGuestWell not much there to argue I think.
Poles, khmer and burgundians have the best ecos in the game if we don’t consider water maps.
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21459lagorethGuestCumans, khmer, and then Persians I think
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21460BlockliesGuestVikings, malay and poles.
Vikings because obviously.
Malay because you get extra vills and have broken fish traps and your docks defend your economy for you.
Lastly poles because you have lots of extra gold and food plus your vills are able to heal in between raids.
Try out malay fish traps with gillnets and you’ll be able to feel the strength of them
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21461after_dark_nightcallGuestBurgundians, Vikings, Cumans
March 19, 2023 at 2:20 am #21462LoxodontoxGuestVikings are a definite.
Burgundians due to early upgrades, not even counting the formerly INSANE Burgundian vineyards as it currently is, not as it was.
Last is probably either Poles or Khmer.
Khmer farming is the greatest invention YET TO BE INVENTED
