With 100 food in the bank, Chinese players can quickly initiate and sustain a population of villagers.

This change would not be considered a buff or a nerf, but rather a neutral alteration.

All other factors remain the same, including the -50w.

    Probably a buff.

Right now with Chinese you’re about 1-1.25 villagers ahead in dark age and 2-2.25 ahead in feudal after the opponent gets loom, plus the start is super micro intensive.

With your change the start is very relaxed, and you’re 2 vills ahead throughout, plus 50 food ahead of the current Chinese.

Edit: on reflection, with 5 vills at the start it would still be a little micro intensive and require some force drops.

But the rest of the comment stands I think.

    It would be a buff.

They’re normally about 1 Villager ahead since the start of Dark Age and about 2 Villagers ahead once their opponent researches Loom.

They also need to use more food because they start with 50 food less than their extra Villagers are worth, and their Dark Age is awkward.

This change would give Chinese the same upsides without any downsides.

Instead of having an awkward Dark Age, they would be up *faster* than a generic civilization *and* they will have an eco lead.

    this would be a buff.

Chinese is already very strong for the top tier players
However, having something like +1 vill with 100 food will make the civ alot more accessible for the average players like me
