Creating a complete Flemish revolution in the game can take up to 45 minutes for a skilled player.
Some may think it’s overpowered, but if you’re playing against someone who is focusing on building their economy and producing many villagers, you should have prepared for their potential uprising sooner.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22353FinnTayGuestThe problem with FR does not exist on maps like Arabia, but on closed maps where you cannot scout what the opponent does.
It’s not unusual to boom to Imp until you build army.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22361UrLocalTrollGuestIs it confirmed to be removed?
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22360temudschinnGuestThe main problem is that you cant know if he is going paladin or fullboom.
If he prepares 10 stable pala out of your vision and you think “i see no military, must be flemish boom” and make hand canons, you die.
If you dont prepare mass HC+walls and he DOES go flemish, you die too.
So much fun.

March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22358NimrodBusinessGuestI love playing Burgundians, but the only time I use the FR is when it’s basically over and I just want to utterly swamp the opponent to win faster.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22357jauznevimcosimamdatGuestImma just copypaste my comment from NAC4 final day:
>Honestly, having Flemish Revolution cost as it does now and adding extra cost for each vill converted would make the tech fine.
If it was something like 15F and 20G for each vill then Hera (183 vills) would have needed 3945F and 4330G.
It should be really niche (and frankly useless in 99 % of situations) tech that gives an opportunity to counter-attack in desperate situation and not build whole opening on it.
On the other hand, considering the tech doesn’t have use in campaigns, I guess it’d be fine just replacing it with new idea.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22356DAANHHHGuestId trade it for bloodlines, nothing less.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #223556_WonGuestIt’s a stupid tech that’s compounded by Burgundians having OP eco along with about 10 other bonuses.
They’re out of ideas for new civs and should stop adding them.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22354mindyourtongueboiGuestHow many times do we need to have this conversation.
The pros are telling us it’s broken, I think they’d know.
The whole “you should start planning to defend earlier” argument is irrelevant, because like Hera said, that will force you to over invest in a very one sided military which the burgundian player can counter once they decide not to bother with FR.
It’s time to put the conversation to bed.
The tech doesn’t belong in the main game.
I’m sure there will be mods that let you use it once they’ve ditched it.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22352Angryhippo2910GuestI tried it the other day.
It felt really weak tbh.
Then I realized I forgot blacksmith upgrades.
Oops.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22351cloudstrife559GuestThe problem with Flemish Revolution normally isn’t the “booming to 200 pop and clicking the button” scenario.
It’s the “play a normal game into imp, add some extra farmers, play Paladin/Coustillier/Hand Cannoneer/Halb with 140 villagers and bank some food, click the button when you have ~5 trebs or bbc” scenario.
You can punish someone going pure boom with no army.
It’s very hard to punish someone playing a normal game and suddenly having 200 army for a very low cost.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22350Beneficial-Salt-8273GuestThis is just how the pro seen goes on these crazy campaigns vs civs that are not balanced for their purpose.
However some of these civs are really fun to play for most casual players….
The truth is that they can just ban em from tourneys if they feel the civ is broken.
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22349UnMapacheGordoGuestThis entire subreddit wasn’t saying a thing about this until NAC4.
We are not pro AOE2 players and I don’t think it’s a problem for 99% of this community
March 22, 2023 at 11:56 am #22348EXTRAVAGANT_COMMENTGuest>It takes up to 45 in game minutes to make a full blown Flemish revolution
