I used to play Age of Empires 2 when I was younger, but only recently began playing online.
Initially, I was intimidated by the complexity of the game and the number of civilizations, so I switched to Age of Empires 4.
After about six months, I came back to AOE2 and it has since become my main game.
I have gone from an MMR of 840 to my current peak rank and would like to understand how I am progressing.
My goal is to reach 1,200 MMR by the end of the year.
Is this realistic?
I’ve heard of people with 1,500 MMR being considered substandard, so I want to get an accurate idea of my progress so far.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5088ElazulKnightGuestI’m 1050 elo after 1000 games.
You’re a lot better than me
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5102AckburnGuestEveryone is garbage to someone else,If you want to improve find your way to do so,if you’re having fun then keep on doing what you’re doing.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5101Tricky-Bookkeeper140GuestI’m 2000 games and 950
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5100Tricky-Bookkeeper140GuestBro you suck like we all do 11
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5099J0rdianGuestYou should very easily be able to obtain 1.2k if you really want to.
It really depends on you how much time you want to commit and how much time you actually spend on trying to improve.
1.2k is not that hard to get, if you learned a proper build order and do it extremely well and only ever play that build order with 1 civ.
You could get 1.2k probably within a month or 2 I bet.
But of course you would have to play a lot every day.
If you want to know how to properly practice and get better you can message DM me and we can talk.
I actually don’t play AoE2 much anymore but I played AoE4 for a few months and was able to get into the top 50 on the ladder with pretty much zero experience playing competitive RTS games at a high level.
But I do watch lots of esports of both games and am good at other competitive games outside of RTS.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5098readytochat44GuestSame amount of games almost and I’m at low 800s
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5097JiubTheSaintGuestI’m 1080 after like 700 games 😣
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5096zeke_cgGuestIf you are having fun then is good, if not its bad
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5095Amazing_kittenyahuGuestI would add that distribution isn’t even, so I think the mean is 1000-1050, only about 24 % of players are 1200+.
I also think anyone trashing peoples elo is basically being a childish dickhead and would love to see how much of an ass they make of themselves when they have to have face to face conversations.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5094Daydream_NationalGuestIt is neither good nor bad.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5093danielstaleinyGuestit does not matter, you are having fun and that what the point is.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5092boxersaintGuestEveryone is being nice to you, but not giving you the answers you wanted.
I’m not a nice guy, so here we go.
Were you actively trying to get better, studying the game, watching your recs and working on builds?
If so, 1050 isn’t great after 300 games.
That’s pretty bad.
Were you not really applying yourself, just kind of playing and half learning but having fun?
Then 1050 is probably pretty good, you could have a pretty high ceiling if you apply yourself.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5091viiksitimaliGuest1053 is about average.
Anyone with two functional hands can get to 1300 if they have time.
What Elo is trash and what isn’t is really a subjective question.
Rule of thumb is that anyone worse than you is trash and anyone better than you is an annoying tryhard lamer.
January 27, 2023 at 10:35 am #5090PatataMaxtexGuestYou are slightly above all people that play 1v1 ranked matches.
Lets say Top 45%.
Most people dont play 1v1 ranked, most of them just play casually.
Thats why I dont think it unrealistic that your are in the Top 10%-15% of all players that played the game in the last 6 months.
If you would include all the people that every played the game (even before DE) at some point, you are propably better than Top 10%, because the level increased so heavily.
Put 2002 Daut infront of DE now and he might be worse than you are now.
