My experience with Quick Play over the past few days hasn’t been great.

Despite my limited experience with the game, I faced much more skilled opponents, which made me question how the system works.

I’m new to the game and have only played six calibration games.

Due to lack of time, I resorted to Quick Play to avoid losing my rust, but it was not enjoyable at all.

I played against players with an Elo rating of 1200+ who executed perfect build orders, which was overwhelming.

Although I learned from the experience, losing was hard.

To test the system, I played with a ranked 1050ish opponent with around 1000 games.

I easily defeated this player, who had a poorly executed opening strategy and left his base vulnerable.

So, how does Quick Play determine the matching system?

In games like Dota, unranked players are matched with players with similar skills based on a hidden MMR.

Does Quick Play in this game have a comparable system or is it arbitrarily generated?

You can set quick play spell and activated it on opponent’s turn when you get turn priority, can’t do that with regular spell card

There’s an unranked elo which was visible on aoe2.net before the devs replaced Death Match queue with Dead_Game_Mode2.exe.

When they reintroduced ranked Death match in lobbies, aoe2 net didn’t have room to display the unranked elo.

I have 2 accounts, both 1500.

With ony I get matched with 1500-1800 players in quickplay.

With the other, only 1k elos.

I really don’t know.

I guess quickplay has its own hidden elo, since I have done a lot of Quick play with the first one.

Quick Play should have a hidden Elo as well.

More people play ranked, so if it takes long to find a match you might be matched with someone with a bigger difference in Elo (higher/lower) than usual.

I didn’t realize until reading your post that quick play should use ranked elo unless it doesn’t exist.

That would make more sense.

I also stopped playing quick play bc I kept getting stomped every game.
