Is it worth the investment?
How are the game controls?
Is it difficult to get used to the controls?
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9246FuturalisGuestIt’s a way better console port than many other games that have gone this route.
The devs put time and effort into providing an effective ui and some (but not too much) automation to support console players.
Give it a whirl when you feel like it.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9247dj0wnsGuestI’ve played a few games (tutorial, plus some friendly 1v1s with keyboard players I know) and I think it’s really enjoyable, especially for single player.
Multiplayer is tough (at least cross input) but I was able to put up real matches vs competent opponents and I think long term if I kept with it I could be able to be reasonably strong cross input.
Haven’t tried playing against other controller players but I’ve heard it’s a lot of fun.
But all in all I think it’s a great port and am really impressed with it.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9248yonyonson23GuestSo I’ve been playing DE on PC for a few months now and I really like the console version.
The controls are taking some time to get used to but I think they work great.
Obviously I prefer the PC especially when I want to play ranked.
My brother was in your situation hadn’t played the game for 20 years and got the console version.
He’s loving it he got through the initial campaign on his first day so I think he’s picking it up fast and is looking the controller interface.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9249Fratzz22GuestJust got it yesterday to try it out as a long time enjoyer off the franchise.
Have to say it is a ton of fun and exceeded my expectations.
It’s impressive how streamlined it is.
Yeah, it’s more difficult to play than on PC if you’re really good, but I will say it seems to be really beginner friendly with no idle villagers and easy to manage economy.
So beginner friendly that my friends who don’t play these type of games have tried it and enjoyed it.
For me, and I was never anything special playing ranked, it feels very relaxing to play on the Xbox versus the hyper focus playing on PC, but that’s just my own opinion.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9250Shadow_Strike99GuestIt’s amazing for casual play especially for campaigns and skirmish matches.
The tutorial does really well in showing you how the controls with a controller works.
If you’re a super competitive player you’ll most likely hate it but on console it’s great to just sit back and chill and not have to sit hunched over a M&K.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9251JKROWLING6Guestits extremely good like so good i bet s good controller player will play good vs pc plebs just give us time lol

February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9253SPJessGuestI think it’s neat.
I have always enjoyed RTS games and the last one I played on console was StarCraft64 which was way less intuitive than this .
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9254althazGuestIt’s actually insanely good.
They did an *amazing* job of the controls.
Probably there are still things to improve, but they are about five times better than I thought was the best-case scenario.
The devs honestly just fucking nailed it.
I cannot even fathom the size of those fuckers’ galaxy brains.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9255MuffinBlendGuestGood just turn on advanced interface in settings
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9256HjoerleifGuestI’ve tried a few matches vs AI.
I’m overall impressed with how well they have implemented it but it’s not a flawless port yet:
* You can’t customise controls beyond a very few specific instances.
Want right stick to pan the camera?
Want to put d-pad right as a control group?
Forget about it, not gonna happen.
* No access to the mods (just four official mods last time I checked)
* You can’t set TC gather point while the TC is garrisoned. Also, keep in mind you need to pay a subscription fee to Microsoft every month if you want to play any kind of multiplayer.
So, if you can overlook all of that and be happy with just singleplayer and campaigns if you don’t want a subscription plan just to play multiplayer, then it’s very nice.
February 4, 2023 at 11:03 pm #9257Cultural_Parfait7866GuestI’ve played on pc forever but gave the Xbox version a go for curiosity and was impressed how well they made the game work on controller.
If you want to play the game again then absolutely give it a go.
