I recently acquired an Apple Silicon M1 Mac, so I am no longer able to play Windows games through Bootcamp.

Has anyone experimented with using WINE to run the game?

Use porting kit, it just works

I haven’t gotten it running on an M1 cause I don’t have one, but I used WINE to get HD running when it first came out, and it was pretty trivial, and I’m not really what I’d call a tech person.

I just Google around till I found a tutorial and followed the instructions.

I run a partition now, but everything I’ve seen seems to say that Crossover (paid) and Porting Kit (free) are both pretty straightforward for getting it running.

Let us know how it goes!

Using it with Crossover (and I happily pay for it!)

I’ve tried and failed to get both DE and AoC working fully with multiplayer, and I’m pretty experienced with Wine.

Got HD working, which at times required me to manually add some DLLs and do other tweaks.

Of course, it’s always a moving target with game and Wine updates.

I tried with porting kit, crossover and parallels, with Crossover I had the best performance, multiplayer also working fine.

Only had to replace a DLL to fix the out of sync on multiplayer.

I only have one issue with a subtle stutter every 5-10seconds.

Its playable, when you are focused on the game you don’t notice, but sometimes its annoying.

Didn’t find a solution for that.

If someone knows how to fix that would be glad.
