Time to time, for me mostly about whether its history gives us any lesson on the future of the USA.
All day every day
I occasionally think about how society and how it would have been if Rome never fell, then I look at generated art of “If Rome never fell” then I Youtube an Arma 3 mod video of idiots roleplaying modern age soldiers of Rome fighting some faction or what not.
I think about Rome ever 2 months and only twice during those two months unless I’m reminded of that video and want to watch it again…

Granted, I’m a history teacher but I still think about it on my time off, too.
Side note: The AoE to history teacher pipeline is very real.
As a byzantine main for roughly 20 years, every time I play the game

Not so often.
I don’t have the dlc with the Romans and I don’t play ranked, and thanks to historians I don’t immediately think of Western Rome when I see Byzantines.
I only think of Romans when I see AoE content featuring them on YouTube or maybe memes on Reddit.
Thanks to some very shitty people sometimes it’s hard for me to think of Rome without thinking of white supremacists.
I’m very aware not every person who likes Rome is an ass, met many, but since I’m not in those circles I mostly see the loud minority who keeps screaming bigotry and I just don’t feel welcome in those spaces.
That may be why I much prefer Middle Eastern empires.
