For early water control, is there ever really a time to not just go for fire ships from the get go?

Yes Galleys are powerful at larger quantities but seems like before i manage to get a critical mass of Galleys my opponent usually rolls in with a handful of fires and easily wrests water control from me.

Any tips or advice here would be appreciated!

Shift usage with lift click

Hey everyone,

im an Old School Rts Players and used to left clicking,

the Shift commands with villagers do not work at all with left click, for example if i want to let villagers go from boar to sheep after they finish it doesnt work or to build a house then go back to gather wood .

but weirdly it work when the ressources im trying to gather is out of vision or under fog

please Help me with this its a huge deal and gives me a lot of idel time .

Is there a list of which units deal friendly fire?

The mangonel line obviously does, but what about BBCs and trebs?

Demos?

Petards?

The area damage of rams?

Does stuff like warwolf affect this?

Some new player questions:

Played my first game against Sicilians and wasn’t ready for 42 serjeants.

to come out of nowhere.

I’ve read they have very high pierce armor.

I was playing as the mongols and had about 7 Mangudai trying to kite them out but I couldn’t stop them from destroying my forward buildings obviously.

Had some other feudal age units left but obviously didn’t do much.

What’s the best mongol comp to death with mass serjeants?

Also how do I add additional units to a control group?

Like let’s say I have 5 archers and now I want to add 5 Skirmishers to the same group without having to entirely remake it?

Also is there a command to select all barracks at once, even if not on the same screen?

When making mass farms with a large group of villagers, what’s the best way to do this?

If I shift click to build will one villager stay to tend the farm while the rest go on to the next one?

Are there hot keys to tell villagers to do a task?

Like if one pops out is there a hot key to tell it to chop wood for instance?

I had a pc before but am now playing on xbox k&m.

But I would like the in game UI (where vilagers, resources, and control units are) to look how it did when I played pc.

It is different for Xbox and I cannot find a way to change it.

im looking at a computer a friend has for sale and im wondering if it will run aoe2 well or not.

What is the fastest cuman uptime you have been able to do or seen with standard starting resources?

The best I have seen is 18 population no loom on arena and it seems kind of maximum but I hope that someone has done better.

To what extent is the champion upgrade ‘a noob trap’ similar to the paladin upgrade where in most cases (tg and specific matchups aside) it isn’t worth it for the number of units you will be making?

People often stick to Cavalier and do just fine.
