I am experiencing regular freezing in my game every few minutes for a few seconds.

I’ve been dealing with this issue for a while, but it’s become more of an issue now that I’m playing 1v1 matches with archers.

I’ve lost a few games because of it, and with a 1v1 tournament coming up, I need to fix the issue.

I have ruled out internet problems, and the issue persists whether playing 1v1 or 4v4 in ranked or lobby games.

I have tried reinstalling the game, but that did not solve the issue.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Edit 2: I was able to solve the issue by excluding the entire aoe folder from Malwarebytes.

I also occasionally have this issue and it’s annoying as fuck, i think i lost a vill to a boar becz of that and that NEVER happens at my elo

Do you have an antivirus software installed?

If so, try adding the whole folder of the game to the exception list.

Do you have any mods installed?

Is vsync turned on?

Have you tried changing some graphics settings?

what are your pc specs? (cpu, gpu, ram, SO, desktop/laptop)

have you checked your temperatures while playing?

Following because I also have this, intermittently.

The game will freeze for like 10 seconds, then everything will catch up really quickly.

I have 700mbps internet and a PC that should have no problem whatsoever with aoe2.

I run Halo master chief collection and PUBG online without any issues.

Some days it doesn’t happen at all, some days it’s unplayable.

I’ll occasionally get the in-game message “lost connection to server.

Attempting to reconnect…” followed by “successfully established reconnection”.

Edit: has been happening for about 2 months now.
