In the past, when I was a beginner, I used to choose my preferred civilization, and if a map other than Arabia appeared, I would wait for 5 minutes and then withdraw from the game.
But now, as an experienced player, I select the Franks civilization and wait for 5 minutes, and I often find that the other player has already resigned.
It’s a straightforward tactic.
