bro just offended half of this subreddit
This is not a problem.
Let’s assume that you are up against a try hard S-tier civ picker.
Given this person does this, their ELO reflects it.
So they still lose 50% of games and win 50% of games.
If you are matched up against them, it means you will have 50% chance to win.
Their civ is carrying them and you are probably better all-around player, but their civ equalizes the field for them.
It’s not really an issue.
Play how you want and let the elo system do it’s thing.
If you’d be a 1300 player going for optimal strats with top civs, but want to play random civ and go for whatever strat you feel like – just go for it.
It doesn’t matter if that places you at 1100, it’s just a way of setting up even games
If you’re afraid you will lose against civ pickers, just select an S tier civ with random enabled?
That’ll give you a level playground (and on top, it’s good practice if you want to practice for potential tournaments).
I don’t think that’s a flaw in the system.
