    This is not a problem.

    Let’s assume that you are up against a try hard S-tier civ picker.

    Given this person does this, their ELO reflects it.

    So they still lose 50% of games and win 50% of games.

    If you are matched up against them, it means you will have 50% chance to win.

    Their civ is carrying them and you are probably better all-around player, but their civ equalizes the field for them.

    It’s not really an issue.

    Play how you want and let the elo system do it’s thing.

    If you’d be a 1300 player going for optimal strats with top civs, but want to play random civ and go for whatever strat you feel like – just go for it.

    It doesn’t matter if that places you at 1100, it’s just a way of setting up even games

    If you’re afraid you will lose against civ pickers, just select an S tier civ with random enabled?

    That’ll give you a level playground (and on top, it’s good practice if you want to practice for potential tournaments).

    I don’t think that’s a flaw in the system.
