Attempting to conquer Fall of Rome in the Attila campaign.

I constantly face unexpected defeat. Despite progressing well, suddenly I receive a message saying “YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED!” and the mission ends. I have kept Attila safely in the castle and there is no timer mentioned in the mission. I have also tried starting from scratch to eliminate any bugs, but the problem persists. What’s the issue?
Are you sure you don’t see the Wonder countdown?
I just tried again, and I’m getting a prompt that says “Western Roman Empire Defeated” when the mission ends. I’m not attacking nor have I attacked Rome in the entire mission, so I think the computer must be doing it?
Is this a bug? I can’t find anything about this online…
