I have been an avid fan of archers in the past, but since they weakened their attack move, I have had difficulty maneuvering them effectively.
I have been attempting to use patrol as an alternative, but it is not quite the same.
What is the best way to maneuver a group of archers/crossbows under the latest balance changes?
Depends on what you’re optimizing for.
Kiting distance: Attack Move
Fire rate: Guard
Focused damage: Right-click
Its still Attack Move.
Its just not as a strong as it was before.
Survivalist did a stream and video figuring it out.
I still kind of do the attack move micro, it’s not as good as it used to be but it’s still do-able.
I also directly click specific units, especially microing archers vs archers, and take some of the overkill.
If I have a large mass of archers vs another mass, I’ll get in close and shift click half of my archers around the opponent’s archer mass and shift click the other half the same way, potentially doing twice the damage if they’re just shift clicking or attack moving.
So, maybe attack move 20% of the time, direct clicks 70% of the time, and 10% split-shift clicking.
I’m no pro though.
