Unpopular opinion: after 20 years of this game it can be boring playing Arabia or arena 95% of the time.
Maybe remove them once in a while or make a different que for them.
Aoe is such a beautiful game that has so much potential for improvisation and variation.
Its kinda sad how we don’t use the randomness that we are given and instead repeat the same old stuff just to optimize our builds for one or two maps.

This is one of the most disappointing parts of the ranked system for me.
A basic requirement for any matchmaking system is filtering out matches that should not be played.
Personally I only rarely play ranked 1v1s anymore, and the difficultly and inconsistency with which I get Arena is a large reason why.
My experience was actually better before the Alt+F4 timeouts: I could ban Arabia and if I ran into someone with Arena banned, most times they would just Alt+F4 when we got Greenland or some other weird map, so I could requeue right away.
We should have an Ultra Random tournament with fully randomised starting buildings, animals and land.
I enjoy forcing Arabia and arena players to play megarandom with me.
These maps are not unpopular.
Your stats are biased, because Arabia and Arena are ALWAYS in the map pool, while other maps like mediterranean are there only once a year or so….
