Halbs shred elephants.
But elephants are more expensive and tankier than knights, so you need more halbs.

Seems like you forgot all your blacksmith upgrades 😉
You’re not using enough halbs. 2v1 will kill battle elephants smoothy and is cost effective even if they don’t come back from the bigger fight.
Fully upgraded Persian war elephants are different beasts, but they cost much more.
You should be able to more than 4v1 those.
And if you’re letting a Persian player get enough economy to *mass* these, you need to rethink your strategy.
Halbs are a natural counter, dealing over 60 damage per hit.
Japanese ones attack faster too so Japanese halbs definitely beat Elephants in terms of cost effectiveness.
The only thing better would be monks.
Standard upgraded halbs do 66 damage to elephants, it’s the biggest counter in the game.
