Why Are My Resources Disappearing Unexpectedly?

As a newcomer to the game, I have noticed that my supplies of wood and gold are gradually decreasing even when I am not actively constructing buildings or recruiting troops.

I have yet to establish a trading market, so I am wondering if the AI is somehow taking my resources.

Could there be other explanations as to why I am randomly losing resources?

Is it possible to lose resources from repairing?

Yes you definitely lose resources for repairing and from auto-seeding farms (wood).

You will also ‘lose’ wood when farms automatically re-seed if you have that feature turned on.

60 wood per farm that reseeds unless playing as a civ with a farm bonus like Teutons

The AI cannot steal resources from you.

You should not be randomly losing resources.

But yes, repairs do cost resorces.

Usually it costs wood, but some like castles and stone walls cost you stone.

Monks don’t use any res to heal.

Repairing units costs resource proportional to the damage they have taken vs cost of the unit.

Buildings take double the res I believe, and TC takes four times the res to repair.
