Which Civilization is Best for a Tower Push Strategy?

    Hello all, I’m new to this game, but not to the genre.

    I’m really enjoying it and I’m trying to figure out which civilization is the best to use for the classic “tower push” strategy, which involves gradually pushing forward in a forest of guard towers.

    Is that a viable approach?

    Any advice would be much appreciated.

    honourable mention to Poles but that’s more for man at arm’s + towers.

    Stone miners generate gold to keep making MAA and their fulwark farms are Hella efficient so you don’t actually fall too far behind eco wise if you don’t get as much damage done as you’d like.

    Their vils even regen health so are way tankier on the frontline too

    Probably the Korean with stone miner working faster, the upgrades on tower being free and unique tech to make your tower even stronger.

    koreans and teutons are excellent at this, spanish and byzantines are nice choices as well.

    you dont slowly advance with endless towers but make aggressive ones in key positions instead

    Welcome to AOE2… hope you enjoy… teutons incas Spanish byz berbers poles Koreans bohemians Japanese all have different advantages that play to a tower rush, some more directly than others.

    In certain situations a feudal age tower rush can be viable for any civ.

    There are a lot of civs that have helpful bonuses in feudal age: teutons, Incas, poles, Koreans.

    The Koreans get a big spike when they reach castle age and get guard tower for free, it is very annoying to take those out in castle age.

    But my answer is 100% Japanese on Black Forest.

    Yamsa towers, halbs and trebs is very viable.

    It’s also worth mentioning Incas, they used to be the undisputed king of tower rushes before several key nerfs putting them back amongst the pack.

    This is mostly a general system too, at DE’s launch tower rushes were insane and deadly but all the good civs have received enough nerfs that it’s unlikely to work all the time and generally can never win the game on it’s own.

    It’s definitely still possible and a great way to get your opponent out of their plan

    Byz, koreans, lith.

    All have trash bonuses (cheaper for Byz, Koreans, faster moving for lith), lith dont havr a bonus for towers, but the towers and trash units are a fun forward to use
