the fact that the immense majority voted for childhood is a little bit worrying for the future of aoe, hope it just happens to be that the reddit folks are more veterans and newer players just havent found the subreddit yet

I was playing since the day I was born.

One of my earliest memories was playing aoe2 in my old house with my father.

I was DEEP into AOM as a kid, teen and adult.

Always playing vs the AI or the campaign.

When I bought AOM on steam a few years back I noticed AOE2 HD, a game I hated as a kid because – no hopolite.

I got the game, kind of disliked it.

Then I saw T90’s forest nothing video and I was kind of hooked, getting the DE edition and as of now played 400 hours of it.

Since my cousin bought the AoK CD in 2000 when I was just 5 years.

I still vividly remember myself getting stuck in the last scenario of William Wallace and my base was wiped by the Brits, I had no idea how to beat it. 11

I played aoe1 RoR and first time played aoe2 on public beta
I played Aoe2 conquerors for a few years on Zone but stopped playing for many years.

Came back on the tail end of HD release then bought back into it for DE

Playing since the MSN Zone was a thing (early 2000), and no, this is not since childhood.

My local library had it installed on the computers in the kids section.

I couldn’t save data for long games so I got pretty good at doing early game and doing quick campaigns.

It took me years until I found this sub that I remembered the name of my favourite game from my childhood.

I just bought it during steams winter sale and am really enjoying it! 😊

Age of Empires – Rise of Rome.

The neighbours had a copy of it.

So I asked for it one Christmas.

Family bought me Age of Empires 2 – Conquerors expansion set, been playing ever since.
