What is the best downloadable content (DLC) to purchase that offers the best campaign and the best civilizations for playing multiplayer?

Best campaign, Dawn of Dukes I accept no arguments.

The other two DLCs are both above the base game standards for the most part so you can’t go wrong.

As for best civilizations well all I’ll say is that Lord of West offers Burgundy, India offers Gurjaras and Dawn of Dukes offers Poles and Bohemians for closed maps.

Sicilians, Dravidians and Bengalis aren’t nearly as complained about.

But frankly unless you are pro player I don’t think it matters.

From a campaign perspective I would say dawn of the dukes.

There’s campaigns are really good and the story telling of the first 2 might be the best in the game.

Dawn of the Dukes campaigns alone are worth the money.

Best campaign is Jadwiga from Dawn of the Dukes.

The Poles from that expansion are also the most well-designed DLC civ imo.

I really like all of them, but if I had to choose I’d recommend dawn of the dukes.

It has one of my favortite campaigns ever with the Jadwiga campaign.

Dawn of the Dukes hands down.

Jadwiga is S tier in campaign tierlist, rightfully so.

And the civs that come with it are also S tier in their home maps – Poles & Bohemians

IMO, if you haven’t mastered the 35 civs that come in the base game, there’s no need to buy the DLCs to have those extra 7 civs.

If you look at win rate statistics you’ll see that there are a lot of great civs in the base game, and the differences are not super important (there’s no civ with 70% win rate).

Having said that, I will automatically pre order five more expansions if they release them, because I love this game.

    But that’s just me.

Never played a single campaign in all those years so no ideas about that but in terms of civs I like dynasties of india best and then dawn of the dukes.

Burgundians and sicilians aren’t powerful aside from on arena because they both have only ok feudal ages.

Bohemians are pretty much limited to arena because they don’t have any strong feudal rushes, they’re not terrible but not good, poles can be used on a map that’s not arena but greedy folwarks can be easily countered.

That leaves dynasties of India which is what I recommend, dravidians and bengalis are great on water and closed maps respectively and gurjaras are broken on Arabia
