Could the Cumans gain an edge due to their capacity to produce extra TCs?
Without any Unique Units, would success in the Feudal Age depend mostly on the best regular units and skill?
I’m curious and I’m sure this question has been asked before.
Cuman.
Rams and exfra TC
Finally, time for Sicilians to shine with their sole feudal age unique unit.
Cumans, no doubt about it.
Cumans and it’s not even close.
Burgundians, more eco than anyone else by a mile.
Cumans, for battering ram and extra TC in Feudal.
Persians, Castle-Lite TC, slight work speed edge.
Burgundians should be good here right?
Way better eco with the same amount of villagers
Cumans would be seriously OP if you cannot go past Feudal Age.
They are the only civ with access to 2nd TC + rams which is HUGE.
Not to mention they get the fastest scouts in the game and ironically they would have best walls.
They would also be able to much more easily spam military buildings.
Basically all of their bonuses are for Feudal Age!
Burgundians also come to mind but….
they miss bloodlines which means they miss the strongest unit in the game (which is undoubtedly the FU scout)
Celts seem good because their infantry will be 15% faster then all other infantry for the rest of the game.
Saracens seem very good because their archers will be the best unit vs buildings in the entire game (except for Cuman rams).
There are several other good civs but non can compare to Cumans
Additional question: what top level player would do best with this scenario?
MBL?
Comments already mentioned top civs.
I’d like to add water bonus civs: Portuguese (extra HP and gold discount), Vikings (discount but no Fire Galley), Berbers (faster), Saracens (top Galleys), Byzantines (top fires), Chinese (top demos), Persians (faster production), Dravidians (top eco), Bengalis (regen ships), Koreans (wood discount but no demos)
Cumans (not even close)
Sicilians (serjeants)
Saracens (best non-cuman anti-building unit, market)
Magyars, Poles, Turks, Huns (scouts)
Aside from obvious picks, I think Sicilians would work nicely.
Quite strong feudal UU and resistance to counter units
Nice idea for a tournament format.
Cumans then Burgundians probably.
I’ll throw Aztecs, lithuanians, and Gujarahs in too.
Aztecs get a eco boost with carry capacity and they have faster producing military.
Lithuanians get a great start with the extra food.
Plus you have faster spears and skirms for micro
Gujarahs getting camels in fuedal is a big advantage against scout civs.
