What Causes Deer to “Reset” When Pushing?

I am unable to determine what exactly triggers the deer to return to their original spawning area.

From my observation, it appears to be linked with the amount of time passed since their last interaction, but the time varies inconsistently.

Sometimes, it may seem like the deer has reset and is ready to be pushed again, but it hasn’t.

Other times, even the slightest distraction may cause the deer to start moving on its own.

Additionally, colliding with objects sometimes appears to trigger the reset.

Can someone clarify what causes the deer to reset, so I can save time and avoid having to restart the process?

[This video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aW-0n_2cOw8) explains such deer shenanigans.

Short version is that after 4 seconds of having moved, every second there is a random chance the deer starts walking back.
