Focus on minimizing idle tc time first.
I would say don’t bother with deers until you have a relatively clean build (e.g. <10s idle time).
With a generic civ, perfect up time for 21p scout is 9:40, for 22p archer it is 10:05.
Even when you achieve this, I would say scouting is more important than pushing deer.
You can push your scout build by 1 vil earlier, but I would rather scout an early barracks and switch to a range preemptively.
Only push deer if you have little to no idle time, at your elo chances are you do have idle time so pushing deer just gives you more, but learning to push deer vs ai is a good idea.
Pushing deer on Arabia is a bit uncommon but pushing 1 or 2 deers every game isn’t impossible and should be done if possible.
Like others have said, it’s not important.
If you don’t want to, then don’t.
Totally disagree that you just shouldn’t push deer at sub 1k elo.
You are gonna have to learn eventually, so doing at a lower elo actually gives you a better opportunity to recover if you screw it up.
I would say to decide if/when to try to push deer after you scout your res.
If the deer push path seems easy, and you’ve got time– push one or two.
If you get it, it’s an extra little food boost that could help a scout rush.
If not, no big deal, just give up and move on.
At less than 900 elo I wouldn’t push deer.
I’d focus on a clean dark age with no idle time.
Don’t push deer if have idle time.
As the other user said, at your current elo it pays more to concentrate your efforts in trying to have a consistent basic start.
It will do more for you than having the extra food from the deer.
At sub 1k elo I’d guess that pushing deer is almost always a detriment to the rest of your dark age
At that level it would be simpler to build a mill and shift-click a group of 4 villagers.
I don’t think I ever pushed deer before 1300 or so.
at your elo its probably better to focus in the basic stuff, but learning how to multitask and lure deer while not idling tc or eco is not a bad idea either.
