The Importance of Pushing Deer on Arabia

It can be frustrating when the deer you’re trying to push stubbornly walks all the way back, especially if there’s a wooded area in the way.

Additionally, the “follow” command doesn’t always work with deer as the scout may stop following if the deer moves out of sight.

In terms of gameplay, if you fail to get the deer or place a second mill, the loss can be significant.

However, if you’re only a few seconds behind in your uptime, it’s better to stick with that than risk making mistakes in your build order or losing a villager to a boar while focusing on pushing deer.

This is especially true in games played on Arabia with a current Elo of 879.

I created dark age build orders from 18 pop to 21 pop hunting all 3 deer long distance.

It works fine, it’s easy to execute and for your level it should be good enough.

Currently I’m finishing up a video for the 21 pop version, but I can send you a PDF with it so you can try it.

Let me know if you are interested in trying any of those build orders (18,19, 20 or 21 pop) .

At that Elo is WAY more important to learn to use your scout properly.

Focus on improve to perfection your build order and to scout your enemy, knowing what he’s doing is more important in that (and higher) Elo.

Place a mill near instead, especially if the pack has 4 deers.

I think it’s important only if you’re good enough to keep your TC idle time very close to zero.

Then you push deer to maximize the efficiency.

Only push deer if you can reliably do it without idling your vils or tc.

Follow hotkey works every time for me.

You dont just do it once, you have to do it with every push of the deer.

Same as you would normally but the follow action just keeps it moving in a straight line, not to automatically follow it because, as you say , the deer will run out of the LOS.

I’m gonna repeat what everyone else has said, but it’s true.

At your ELO don’t push deer.

Get a clean 20 pop scouts dark age down first and scout opponent.

In my experience most people below 1300-1400 hundred would gain significant elo by not pushing deer.

Perfecting a build is much more important.

    Important at 1500/1600 ELO.

People are tryhards here, and having extra food comes with a major advantage

I would say at your elo, I would just ignore them.

The 3 deer have 420 food in total.

Assuming decay, you’ll collect around 370 food from them.

Keep in mind that if you don’t take the deer, you are not losing 370 food.

Because in the time it takes to gather this food, your villagers could be doing something else like chopping wood and farming.

If you really want to, wait until you have wheelbarrow and just long distance hunt with 3 vils.

This will be more efficient than in dark age since the vils move faster and you only need 3 and not 4.

Pro tip: Use the follow command on the deer **everytime it starts moving.**

I have pushed in my enemies deer this way numerous times, it’s the best way of preventing the deer resetting their location.

Deer pushing has become easy for me these days.

I used to struggle with it for a while.

Try pushing Deer on Arena first as they’re nearer.

I used to use the follow hotkey often before to push deer.

And then I started pushing without the follow hotkey as well.

Do it consistently in arena during your 2nd boar or after, some people even do it much earlier, your choice tbh, after that pushing Deer in Arabia should be a cakewalk.

Also top tip you can push your deer to your mill as well if that’s nearer cause berries is the slowest gather rate in game if I’m right (correct me if I’m wrong)
