Should Knights Be Nerfed?

    I am excited to read all the respectful comments.

    However, I have observed many discussions and disagreements regarding the issue, which is why I have created a poll.

    Nope.

    Archer line, mainly xbows need a nerf and infantry some kind of buff.

    Why?

    Check pro games.

    In most scenarios they all seem to prefer archers over Knights.

    I am surprised that so few people agree with me that Knights need a nerf.

    They are the most common unit in Castle Age except maybe at the highest elos, where they would be second highest, after Crossbowmen.

    A +5 food cost for Knights wouldn’t hurt in my opinion.

    The recent change where knights can just phase through archers is making archer civs unplayable against cav civs

    The only nerf I would like to see to generic knights is a feature that tells you whether you’re fully walled or not.

    Devs, please give us a button to press to show either the path a unit will take or a filter that turns reachable/non-reachable tiles different colors.

    Knights are strong at all levels, and OP at low levels, but I accept this for the most part.

    It’s hard to see how you nerf them without making the game worse.

    Best idea I have is raising their base food cost and giving some civs a supplies-like tech to reduce it to normal, which is maybe too radical.

    Knights are on more of a timer than you would think because the knight player should be working on their backup plan before halbs or heavy camels show up.

    It’s simple archers get counterd by knights, uu, skirm, mangonel, scorpions and mass hussar

    Maa line gets counterd by scorpions, mangonels, knights, archers, uu, monks, gunpowder and hussar trade decent

    Eagle gets counterd by maa line, knights, gunpowder crossbows in Early castle, uu, and hussar trade okayisch (scorpions and onager dpending on the situation)

    Knights get counterd by monks camels and Pikes, early castles crossbows, maa line trade costeffective in small numbers, uu

    In the end there is no way to mass kill knights without getting heavy into Upgrades therefore you need some nerf for them.

    They are just too cheap

    I think the game at all levels except for maybe the pros would be better if knights were toned down.

    Knights are definitely OP on any cost/benefit scale for all players below 2k elo.

    Around 1k knights are basically the only units you see

    I feel like knights should have 1/2 armor, and get +1 armor on cavalier upgrade.

    to exclude situations where generic camels and pikes got destroyed by improved knights like old Sicilian and Pole knights.

    Maybe it will also solve insane Berbers and Franks winrate problem.

    I just keep seeing “nerf this” and “nerf that” posts and comments both around here and in the official forums, since a good while ago.

    What is happening with this community holy shit.
