I love cba.
It’s a break from worrying about eco
1.
Late game is all about the most unit production.
Which team can get the most units out onto the field.
To a lesser degree sometimes it does come down to unit comp.
Some civs just aren’t as good or their highest hp unit is outclassed (for example celts paladin, unless you include the siege ram).
Or you have civs making the same unit (arbs let’s say) but one has a civ bonus or another is missing an archer armor etc.
As far as team coordination, late game all it takes is one weak link and the game is over.
Also I have played in games that I’ve won when we were 3v4 bc the 4th player on the other team didn’t have vills.
And vice versa
2.
Almost everyone has a chance in any game, even where the civ matchup seems sketchy.
In those cases you have to get your vills early.
There are sometimes where you get 4 archer civs who all need sets AND goths are on the other team.
4.
CBA is very toxic.
However I would say it’s borne out of frustration.
People who play cba, they play CBA often.
They’re very good at it, and it is so team dependent, especially if civ matchups are skewed.
So when they play with bad players, they will often recognize that and try to direct that player who is “noob”.
However, when that player doesn’t follow even simple directions such as “go here instead of here” that’s when the toxicity comes out and the “noob” and “p5 mentally detached” comments come out
