Player Says “Good Game” then Constructs Trade Centers

After I had finished a game with a score of 4,000 points ahead of my opponent, they castle dropped my base, so I quickly built one on the front and upgraded to Imperial Age.
The other player then called GG, but they continued to attack me.
I asked them if they had resigned or changed their mind, but they did not respond.
I ended up trebucheting down their castle and base.
Upon reviewing the recorded game, it appeared that they had deliberately called GG, built two Town Centers in the corners, used the Market to upgrade to Imperial Age, and tech switched to a counter to my main unit, as if they were trying to get me to surrender.
Has this ever happened to any of you?
Happened to me once, I never fall for it now.
I play my hardest until that resign comes in.
Have had 2 others try this since and I kept scouting the map to look for expansions and caught them red handed.
Well you fell for it, and it isn’t illegal or whatever.
Chuckle and move on.
Tbh happened to me twice.
Once in TG, but my mate told me to keep trying (has 20 pop in trash war), and we ultimately did it cause he sent me food in order to instant reboom and flemish for a strong push.
And yesterday in 1v1, I castle dropped my opponent, he hit imp at 24min, felt like it was over and called the gg.
But then I remembered that he trashtalked earlier in the game and went all-in knight in his base (arena), figuring that if he imp and treb that early, he should be vulnerable.
He was.
Sooo I think it can happen by mistake.
Never get easy on someone because he said gg.

Dude called gg so I stop playing.Sadly I lost since I had to go to bathroom so I walked away.
He was pretty toxic about it. 11
Better than calling gg, walling in villies and walking away.
But im still at ~800 and people get mad if u rush…
Saying gg doesn’t mean, im ending the game right now by resigning.
It might mean that in professional aoe2 tournaments but not in other places in gaming.
When you say gg it’s basically like saying, this game is over as one side has just gained a huge lead.
Sometimes you call a gg but the advantage isn’t so big that the current winning side still has an opportunity to throw.
Therefore you might play on for a bit just to check that there isn’t a huge mistake to swing the advantage.
I’ve seen SO many games below 1300 elo get thrown from a winning position due to the winning side not stamping out the cockroach bases, then they make a comeback and raid the winners eco and swing the tide of the game.
Higher elo is a bit of a different story as they likely wouldn’t make the mistake of allowing them to comeback.

Or he changed his mind an tried to beat you with somthing that counters your unit becuse he thaught he had a chance.

I did it once.
It wasnt intentional.
I realized i will lose the game and i said gg.
But then, I wanted to make it harder for him and see how much i could defend.
It took another 25 mins to real gg lol
I guess it was a statement like “I’m dead”.
Then he just continued to give that lost game a shot.
You continued your push and the drama was over.
Yep.
I played britons vs franks on Yucatán (classic matchup am I right?) I chose Brits because my hazy recollection of yucca was that it is wall able.
So I’m trying to turtle strat and franks is coming in aggressive with scouts into knights, forward castles.
But he does a weird thing and instead of a line of fwd castles pushing into my base he builds 3.
Front and flanks.
I had one up front already so I build a second right behind it and go imp after holding on for life so far.
I was able to get onto like 3 trebs before he trebs my front castles, then I defend these trebs from hell and high water, PALADINS etc with my mass of longbows and halbs.
I clean his trebs, three castles and one more he tries to rush up in the middle of my farming eco as a last resort.
Dude says “ looong game omg” or something, but it’s mid imp.
Plenty of gold on the map, I can’t even afford my university upgrades yet.
He makes another comment about me taking too long or drawing it out or whatever so I “105”.
He then says “gg” I return gg.
then. “You’re lucky I have to go I’m hiding vils and walking afk”
When I read this I say we’ll I have a lot of cleanup to do, might as well start now.
So I delete (luckily not all) walls and venture out to no resistance and eventually treb his home castles and then get swarmed by MORE paladin and light cav than I had seen yet this game.
He killed my deathball and rocked me all the way back to my eco before the good trades I was taking w the halbs and archers finally made his production bleed out and he disconnect.
By then, yeah it was a looooong game after all.
advanced to Castle Age
Frequent move.
That way you might move away or at least give it a rest until you realize he is already back on the game and killing you.
The time to stop is when he is out not when he calls it
How about players who call gg after losing the pistol round?
