Does anyone have a way to counter this strategy?
I have faced it for the third consecutive game and found that walling is not enough to defend against it.
It seems impossible to build adequate defenses and create enough military power to prevent it.
Once the strategy is in effect, it leads to a quick defeat.
I’m considering building on their land in the next game, but what if they repeat the strategy?
It’s a frustrating yet effective tactic.
Just think about it this way.
Your opponent has to at some point in Dark age take 12-15 vils, walk them to your base, and build a TC.
This takes at least 1 min.
If 1 villagers collects say 20 of a resource per minute, your opponent is at a minimum giving up 240-300 resources in Dark Age.
On top of that, they have to sit a ton of villagers in their new TC to kill your TC, which is crazy idle time.
Meanwhile, you move to a new location and continue collecting resources.
You will most likely hit Fuedal Age before they take out your TC.
If you send a few archers to their old base, you will be able to kill his vils who are usually collecting berries/stone/gold/wood back there.
It’s impossible to stop the first time it happens as you don’t know how to react.
Once you figure it out, I would say it’s easier for the defender than the person trying to do the douche.
It causes hectic games and someone that is proficient at it can make your life difficult.
Assuming this is a 1v1 game, the counter is something along these steps.
1) if you see your opponent is Persians, send your scout forward quicker than normal in order to see his vills adavancing
2) Get to Feudal ASAP.
He shouldn’t be able to kill your TC before you get to Feudal.
3) Let him destroy your TC.
Do not repair it at all.
4) Start massing archers
5) Rebuild your TC on gold/wood.
Send vills to gold/wood and a couple to stone.
6) If you built the new TC out of range from his old one, and have enough archers, you can prevent his second one from going up.
However, even if they get a second TC drop on you, just repeat the steps.
7) Send a few archers to his base to kill what little eco he has.
The TC drop is an all in strategy.
He is intentionally putting himself behind in order to cause chaos and force you into making mistakes.
Think a bit harder
In order to tc drop you they have to delete and rebuild their own tc, if you let them break yours and then just go build it somewhere else then they haven’t gained any advantage over you .
In fact by having to rebuild their tc first they should be behind on vils
