Ballistics is good as hell though
having played a lot of aoe4 recently, i certainly do miss these icons.
instead of the drab ones in aoe4

Invention of gunpowder is definitely chemistry.
Idk what they put on the flaming arrows, but it’s most likely also a chemical product.

Yeah, back in the day when I played this game as a non-English speaking kid, I never prioritized the weird potion icon.
I just boomed on and on and then clicked every upgrade button in every building, hoping one of them would do the cool fire thing.
Obviously I didn’t play with hard AI back then.
I also enjoyed making pens for my sheep using palisade walls.
Never killed them.
Throw in some Persian war elephants, some deer and a boar and I had a full-blown zoo.
I have solved this problem by simply researching every technology available.
Ironically, Bombard Cannons don’t even benefit from Ballistics (and Ballistics is about firing at small moving targets, not large stationary ones).
