Using your criteria, we only need three civilizations to represent Europe, Latin, German and Slav.

See, I agree that there shouldn’t be no more civ splits.

Mostly because I don’t want drastic changes and because there is no civ that is an extreme case like Indians were.

But ranting about it gets tiresome.

For one, it is very unlikely to happen since there are tons of civs to add from all across the world without resorting to cannibalizing existing civ.

And also, people are allowed to voice their opinions, the good, the bad and the ugly ones.

It is much better in the long term to just ignore and move on, make threads to discuss topics that interest you.

The reason Indian civ split makes sense is that in medieval era there was no “India”.

There were only these provinces/states such as those that were released with India DLC and several other notable ones.

I am not aware of China’s history so I can’t comment precisely on that.

But if any civ in the game was actually not a powerhouse state in the medieval era under its present name/identity, it should be reworked.

people are gonna clown me for saying that but Turks are already split considering we have Tatars a hybrid society of mongols and Turks, cumans our cousins and Huns somewhat our ancestors.

We don’t have that much cultural difference in Anatolia and we kind of have all the nomadic or postnomadic societies in middleassia so I don’t really think we will have any updates to middle Asia and Asian minor.

I guess having Indians split up into so many different civs makes it harder to justify not splitting China.

Honestly I feel like AOE2 doesn’t really need more civs.

It’s getting to a point where they’re introducing units that are gimmicky and not very readable.

Someone playing vs Hindustani for the first time gets confused when his archers die to the spearmen UU and won’t understand to make cav.

Someone playing vs Gurjaras for the first time will see the Shrivamsha riders which are about as fast as a cobra car, impossible to catch by spears or even knights and hard to catch with camels or light cav, so they’ll try archers with ballistics to take them down…

only to realize (too late) they’re the only unit in the game that can magically dodge archer fire and even mangonel shots.

Heck, I still don’t get what counters those riders other than walling up and forcing the enemy on defense.

Which can be tough if you don’t have early game eco bonuses like they do.

But all in all I just don’t like units that are impossible to understand unless you buy the DLC or read up on them in the wiki
