    Ive long thought of a tech that allows UU to be created easier.

    We have a lot of cool unique units and it be cool to make it easier for them to be used in games.

    Academies (Can train unique unit at their respective production building) Infantry at barracks etc

    Obviously this wouldn’t be available to Civs like Mongols, Khmer etc or any other for balance reasons

    Goths & Huns could receive new unique techs at the castle.

    Goths would have it available one age earlier and Huns get it free.

    Well, towers and walls used to be way better than they are now which is why there’s a lot of university tech that focuses on those.

    They nerfed them over time to become very weak since fast imp and trebuchet can’t be beaten by defences, which makes sense for the games health but made games vs AI way less fun.

    They always balance the game to advantage the aggressor, it seems.

    Its hard to add something that wouldn’t just benefit some civs over others, but personally I’d like to see a bit more emphasis on siege units since they often go out the window in imperial.

    Siege speed, siege production, siege blast damage, trebs accuracy, trebs packing time.

    I’d like to see those as very expensive techs that you can get

    Well both those techs you mention already exist – as UTs (Ethiopians, Britons, Saracens) UUs (Bohemians) and the Town Watch line.

    There are also lots of civ and team bonuses which relate to the line of sight of specific units – Franks have Knights, Koreans have villagers etc.

    So it’s important when adding generic techs not to remove the uniqueness of civs.

    Something I’ve always thought would be neat is the ability to produce fully upgraded unique units for a dramatically higher cost, but without the upfront investment.

    Something like this for Persians:

    **Mercenaries**

    Hire 1 fully upgraded War Elephant.

    Cost: 340F, 170G(2x normal price)

    A few fully upgraded unique units could make a huge difference in specific niche cases and really make games way more diverse and interesting, especially early on.

    But right now, doing that takes way too much investment for just a handful of units, you kinda need to go all-in.

    A university tech to improve pallisade walls?

    That would be kind of cool- those types of walls are already a big part of the meta, and not stone walls unless you’re in arena.
